Fantastic bit of kit
I originally made my Amazon account all the way back in 2011 specifically to buy one of these. I was enthralled by its (relative to the size of e-books) huge storage capacity, ability to play books aloud, and as a backup, an always enabled free 3g connection, so that I could check wikipedia in neat black and white, or buy books on the go if I was desperate. I loved that first Kindle like a child; carried it everywhere, and read in all likelihood more full length books on it than I ever had in my combined life up to that point. In 2014, in a freak (read: I was hungover) washing machine accident, me and my beloved kindle were parted; it having bent into the shape of the inside of the washing drum, rendering it pleasingly tactile and smelling of cotton, but unusable. My wait is over. I realised that Amazon are never quite going to match the perfection they had in this piece of kit, and having roamed around Ebay to find the exact colour and case combo I used to rock, I finally have my baby back. For only £110 less than I originally paid for it.

Better than subsequent Kindles
My first Kindle was a 3rd. Gen, which I absolutely loved. I bought it when it first came out and it lasted for nearly 8 years. when it finally died I bought a Paper white, which I hate as it is touch screen only and needs both hands to read, moreover, I appear to have poor conductivity and frequently have to swipe several times. I also missed the text to speech which means I can listen to the book I am reading whilst I am doing other activities, then resume reading when I am free. It also has a proper keyboard which makes it easier to type in searches etc. it is great to have found another 3rd gen and have bought a spare battery for when this runs out. Best model made in my opinion
Best kindle made in my opinion. All the ones after are fancy and 'bling' but this has everything you could need. Earphone, text to speech, changeable font sizing but best of all wifi AND 3g so can still download and check kindle store even with no wifi.

Classic product which can’t be improved
I’ve had one of these for ages and purchased ones for my elderly mother who loves the fact that the typeface can be enlarged and it doesn’t look like a computer screen. It’s battery can last for a month and furthermore it is light and easy to turn the pages. I love it for all these reasons and I find it great for travelling as I don’t have to pack loads of books, in fact I’ve cleared my bookshelves. I’ve had one of these for ages and purchased ones for my elderly mother who loves the fact that the typeface can be enlarged and it doesn’t look like a computer screen.
