Great transaction, exactly as described, packed well, and promptly shipped on August 6th. Unfortunately the U.S. Postal Service took 23 calendar days to deliver the book. It was shipped from Pennsylvania, to Atlanta, past Alabama to Texas, enjoyed several days in Texas, then to Minneapolis, Jacksonville, Florida, back to Atlanta, finally to Birmingham, and Huntsville. The seller was very responsive and I decided it was interesting to see if/how the book would arrive. Thanks, Joe

Harry & Tonto - a gem of a movie and an odyssey about love, loss and new beginnings
Harry & Tonto is a gem of a movie, meant to be viewed more than once. Art Carney’s stunning performance in this 1974 film won him a well-deserved Oscar for Best Actor. Beautifully directed by Paul Mazursky with a gorgeous score by Bill Conti, this moving drama follows aging widower, Harry Coombes, who still deeply misses his wife, but who finds comfort and solace in his constant companion, ‘Tonto,’ a tiger cat who accompanies Harry on his daily walks along the bustling New York City sidewalks, to the market, then to the local park where Harry and his longtime friend, Jacob, sit on a bench and reminisce. Harry’s life as a retired school teacher has become routine and his apartment provides sanctuary where he can rest and escape the city noise and chaos, outside. Suddenly, Harry’s world is ... Harry loves his family and is grateful to his son, but yearns for his lost privacy and independence, so he decides to travel cross-country to see his daughter in Chicago, then visit with his son in Las Vegas. With Tonto in tow, Harry embarks on an unforgettable odyssey via bus, a purchased used car, and even some hitchhiking along the way, where he meets some interesting characters and unusual situations. ‘Harry & Tonto’ is a captivating, heartfelt drama laced with poignancy and humor about a man in his seventies who has known love and deep loss, and who must suddenly reinvent his life with a willingness to ‘let go’ and explore new beginnings. The film epitomizes the message that ‘it’s the journey, not the destination that matters,’ and what an amazing journey it is for Harry and his beloved cat, Tonto!

One very touching story Art Carney deserved the best actor for this film.
I was very moved by this movie and wish I would have seen it when it came out in 1974. I was so moved as I am also a cat lover who loves his cats and cherish them. As well as volunteer at a shelter for cats. I thank you for this wonderful DVD to add to my cat films. And here is a picture of my cats Salem and Zeus, Salem is behind Zeus with his bigger ears. They are my comfort cats, And I could see how Tonto was to Harry in the film. I cried when Tonto passed away. As I also know the pain of losing at cat. My sweet T. J. who lived to be 18. There is nothing bad about this product it was package fine. And the DVD was good no skipping at all. I thank this seller. The story of eviction, with a cat for a constant companion, and quite a few minor companions (very amusing) along the way. This takes place at a time in History when New York was at its ebb. The US President had been headlined as saying, "Drop Dead New York." Thus began the 2nd great depression which proceeded to roll westward, engulfing the nation. This tale reduces that bit of history to one man and his assortment of companions as he leaves his home and heads West. This is a great film, and its no woner this was an Academy Award winner in 1974. Art Carney is superb and so is his cat Tonto. Its a great adventure by the two, and filled with many authentic characters they come across in thier trip from New York to Chicago to Los Angeles. It also has some wonderful music. One of the best movies of the mid-1970s.

One of my favorite films Great Performances beautiful soundtrack all over a memorable experience
Harry and Tonto is a touchingly beautiful story with some sad moments but in clever directing character, paul mazursky quickly cuts from a sad scene to something more uplifting to keep the balance of humor and sometimes not so happy life's realities in a comfortable range of fluidity. a Bittersweet story that always leans towards the uplifting. Carney received the Academy Award for best actor and he was up against some tough competition but in my opinion certainly deserved it.Harry and Tonto is a touchingly beautiful story with some sad moments but in clever directing character, paul mazursky quickly cuts from a sad scene to something more uplifting to keep the balance of humor and sometimes not so happy life's realities in a comfortable range of fluidity. a Bittersweet story that always leans towards the uplifting.
