Rokinon 85mm f/1.4 for Nikon AE
Nicely made lens, meters well with my Nikon D 5300 DSLR. It is manual so you do have to focus it yourself which is no big deal, just have to get used to doing things the old fashion way. I am very used to using Nikon AF lenses and they are very easy to use and sharp. I myself had some problems focusing manually but many of the reviews I read seemed to have no trouble. It is much cheaper than the Nikon 85mm f 1.8 but I am spoiled and will get the Nikon version.Nicely made lens, meters well with my Nikon D 5300 DSLR. Well made big good glass with some limatations tempting price.
Manual focus is why it's not in the huge price range.. On a Nikon the conformation light is useless even with the chip until you do some focus fine tuning. If you have a Nikon body that doesn't give you this potion you're on your own, even when i was dead sure it was in focus on my D2Xs pro body, it was a disappointment. I have two of these and both were off on my D700. at f1.4 it's less than the thickness of a your middle finger and it has a dreamy look so don't buy the tack sharp that others say. In bright light it's awful at 1.4 with lots of CA. Stop it down to 2.8 and things start to pull together stop it down to 4 to 5.6 and life is good. Made well big fat glass smooth focus good hood solid metal mount good thick solid composite plastic housing. This is a specialty lens and if you're ... In short it's a great portrait and nighttime medium telephoto lens as long as you're not shooting in serious bright light this lens is a bargain. Me personally would prefer buying the Nikon Nikkor 85mm D AF f1.8 for a little more and have AF. I think that's my next move and be done with wasted shots.

Typical Rokinon quality lens
I’ve owned several Rokinon lenses including a fisheye and they all worked great. This 85mm makes images as good as the big name brands at a fraction of the price. This lens is quite sharp wide open at 1.4... It takes a little practice because the DOF is extremely shallow especially on my cropped sensor body. The Rokinon 85mm 1.4 has creamy smooth bokeh as well .

Get It With The Chip!!!
This lens is an absolute winner. Edge to edge razor sharp. about average weight. So it's not made of lead. The AE chip is spot on through a Nikon D3200. The lens hood and front/rear caps are the kind of quality you'd expect with this lens. Focusing resists accidental bumps. But is smooth. My camera instructed me to stop the lens all the way up to f/22 in order to use it. Works great.
