2015 Review of the War Within
This movie, I purchased to understand the Muslim Culture. However, what I saw was the main character came to the US from Pakistan with another associate after having been beated horribly. It comes to you that he was forced into the Muslim Faith via this torture and brain washing. He comes to America (NYC) to live with a school from also from Pakistan that has a wife and 3 kids and a sister living with him. He takes in his friend, not sure why he is distressed. The friend takes note that the guest was never that religious before and finds it curious that he is. The young son admires this new guest... all are polite and cordell. But the guest is making Bombs.. the movie never explains why there is a hat to make bombs, even from his prospective. Just that he is. The two friends end up in a fist fight cause the host, feels he has placed his family in danger. The host friend calls the authorities to report his constituent as being a bomb maker... but is arrested. (the arrest also is never explained.) 1) I have several problems with this movie. 2) It does not describe their culture or Muslim beliefs. 3) It shows that even the muslims used torture to get other muslims into the faith. 4) It depicts the US Police system as an entity that would arrest a citizen that is trying to help warn the public... it a bit much. We as a country never have done that. We are bigger people then that recognising in WWII some Japanese Americans reported on Japanese Nationals on visas who did treasonous acts. We should do that now. This movie would discourage Americanized Muslims from reporting treasonous acts. I am an Epidemiologist, and must understand the culture to stop disease threats and this did nothing to help me do that. Really disappointed.
