Synopsis
Now hailed as an American classic, Tropic of Cancer, Henry Miller's masterpiece, was banned as obscene in this country for 27 years after its publication in Paris in 1934. Only a historic court ruling that changed American cesorship standards permitted the publication of this first volume of Miller's famed mixture of memoir and fiction, which chronicles with unapologetic gusto the bawdy adventures of a young expatriate writer, his friends, and the characters they meet in Paris in the 1930s., Henry Miller's famously banned book is "a matter-of-fact celebration of chucking one's dreary life and following your heart to Paris" (Richard Price). Only one page was colored on, so "gently used" was a good way to describe this book. The quality is great. It was a really good price. It has no rips, torn pages, even the cover is like new, the appearance is better than described. The seller had good communication. Item arrived in a timely manner and was packaged well. I would buy from this seller again.

  • Good Value

Certainly wasn't the book in the listing photograph, and the name of the previous owner inscribed had been cut out. Besides these petty issues everything was cherry. Good value.

Front cover creased all the way down. Inside page ripped and bent. This isn't a 'very good' condition book. I'll stick with Thrift Books.
