Nostalgic experience but also interesting
I saw this when it first came out in1980 and again in 2001 when it was repeated. I bought the DVD to show one of my daughters who has been living in Germany and using a lot of trains. I found it fascinating to watch if a little bit depressing. The characters are all a bit annoying but I think that was the point.

The joys of train travel.
A fascinating picture of long-distance train travel in the 1980s and an interesting if frustrating growing relationship between a young man and an old woman. Unusual.
