The world is on the brink of a devastating global apocalypse. Figuring they have nothing to lose and everything to gain after "liberated" free-market Russia collapses, a contingent of hard-line military leaders have taken over the entire Soviet arsenal and have developed a single goal: elimination of the West. Nothing short of total destruction is acceptable. Your task is a daunting but crucial one -- take command of a NATO force of EF2000s, one of the most powerful combat aircraft the world has ever known, and stop the Russian advances in Northern Europe that are encroaching on and occupying NATO territory at an alarming rate. Not only must you stop this invasive military force but reverse it as well and regain lost territory. EF2000 V2.0 is the sequel, albeit totally enhanced and improved, of the 1995 original release EF2000. Both MS-DOS and Windows 95 versions ship with the product which features 3Dfx acceleration and Rendition 3D hardware enhancements. A full eight pages of the 334-page manual are devoted to chronicling just the improvements over the original product -- improvements that include (but are not limited to) graphics, enhanced joystick support, on-line gaming facilities, a campaign mission editor, custom air-to-air mission creation capability and a full on-screen help system. Other updated areas consist of improved AI-control of enemy aircraft, sweeping weapons and combat upgrades, damage, flight envelope and campaign enhancements, multi-player options (up to eight players via the Network Campaign) with various adjustable game settings available and a much greater focus on realistic aircraft considerations such as fuel consumption, stealth improvements, accurate terrain information, smoother graphics and handling at low altitude. New features incorporated in EF2000 V2.0 include a new virtual cockpit, friendlier interface, modernization of avionics (sophistication), wingmen, realistic modeling, upgrade to SVGA, a proprietary 3D wargaming engine and networking capability. Dogfights can be customized with as many as 32 different aircraft with the air-to-air combat editor, optional user control is given over difficulty settings and full tactical mission planning is available.
