In this action-packed roleplaying video game release, players make their way to Melanat while playing the role of Alexander. Alexander is the best friend of the king and is on a quest to prevent a horde of monstrous creatures from overtaking the kingdom. He must do this by finding the powerful moonlight sword, a relic of vast power.When you first start this first-person game, you're simply dropped into an ancient world. You are only given the most basic of information and left to fend for yourself. The lack of clues makes this title stand out in the RPG genre. Most games at least point you in a direction when you start your journey. In this title, however, your first steps are whatever you want them to be, and you can play through the dungeons in any order.No matter which direction you go in King's Field, you'll have to fight. Combat is a tense affair that requires gamers to learn the patterns of their enemies. You will battle additional combatants in a three-dimensional playing atmosphere where foes can come from all directions. This 360-degree viewing offers realistic gameplay and will keep you on your toes at all times. While you'll begin with a weak sword, eventually you'll find all manner of weapons. Axes, broadswords, a ring, and heavy suits of armor will allow you to stand a chance in battle. You'll also gain access to magic spells that let you fry an enemy from a distance. As you fight, you'll need to keep a close eye on your strength meter. This meter depletes after every swing, and you need to wait for it to fill again before attacking.King's Field will throw all manner of monsters at you as you attempt to help the king. The standard assortment of fantasy creatures is here, including skeletons and plant monsters. However, what makes these opponents stand out is how difficult they are. Many creatures can kill you in just one swing. It's for this reason that King's Field is known as one of the hardest PlayStation games. In fact, when you first start the game, one wrong turn could lead you directly to a boss. However, each defeat will give you the knowledge you need to succeed on the next try. Gameplay intensifies with increasing difficulty until you face the boss, a black dragon named Guyra who leads the horde.This Japanese video game will take many gamers more than 30 hours to complete due to its difficulty. It's packed full of content for players to discover, from secret rooms to powerful hidden bosses. Those who are patient and put in the time necessary to succeed will find a rewarding Sony game.
