Synopsis
This volume examines the philosophical foundations of modern international law using the tools of Anglo-American legal theory and western political thought. Specifically, the text confronts two central questions in international legal theory: the nature of the international legal regime, that is, What is international law?, and the reality of international law, or, Is international law really law'. The work engages with both contemporary and historical legal theory and with an analysis of international law in action to provide answers to these questions. The aim here is to understand law as those who actually use this legal system understand it and build a theory from this perspective rather than constructing an artificial system from the standpoint of either political scientists or moral philosophers. 'Law at the Vanishing Point' does not reduce international law either to ethics or to politics but rather sees it as an independent force in human social relations., This volume examines the philosophical foundations of modern international law using the tools of Anglo-American legal theory and western political thought., Two central questions are at the core of international legal theory: 'What is international law?', and 'Is international law really law?' This volume examines these critical questions and the philosophical foundations of modern international law using the tools of Anglo-American legal theory and western political thought. Engaging with both contemporary and historical legal theory and with an analysis of international law in action, the book builds an understanding and theory of law from the perspective of those who actually use this legal system and understand it, rather than constructing an artificial system from the standpoint of political scientists and moral philosophers. Law at the Vanishing Point provides a fascinating new challenge to those who reduce international law either to ethics or to politics and provides a critical new appraisal of its power as an independent force in human social relations.

- e***_ (17)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzte 6 MonateBestätigter KaufSeller handles a massive inventory so I give them grace on the slow processing and shipping. They were very communicative and prompt with their response when I messaged in asking about it. Book was in good condition as described. Small ding on the page edges which wasn't mentioned, but that's fairly common even at your typical book store. Still a good value and I'd buy from them again.
- 0***i (5)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzter MonatBestätigter KaufThe first item arrived with some damage to the inside back cover, but the seller responded immediately, assuring me they’d provide a replacement, and even told me I could keep the original. They were upfront about a short delay, and gave a clear estimated ship date, and followed up right on time once it shipped. The replacement arrived in perfect condition and exactly as described. I really appreciated their transparency and professionalism. Would definitely buy from them again!
