Having fun with macro
I got this lens for shooting humming birds outside my window. It works fine with my Rebel T5i. The depth of field is very narrow so the birds beak is out of focus when the eye is in focus if shot from the front or at much of an offset angle. I have gone to some effort to get the bird to always feed from one position which helps get most of the body in focus. There is quite a challenge to get the whole bird in focus at 1/1000 s shutter as auto usually selects F2.8. I've gone to high ISO (1600-3200) and RAW format so I can use a smaller aperture. The lens will adjust focus quickly but I must pre-focus to avoid the long time required if the lens goes hunting. Though I selected durable and good value, the 'yes' option was closer to the real answer than 'no', based upon very limited experience with the lens. Perfect for my 80d
After much research and debate on what prime Macro would suit my shooting needs, I hit the Buy It Now button. Yes, I am so gald that I did! Love this lens, super sharp, auto focus is fast, colors are beautiful and it's solid. I shoot food, and this gets those nice tight shots along with major details when I'm working on a story layout. Not to mention, a great portrait lens as well. Paired this with my 80d, and Canon 24mm wide, also a macro lens truley perfect for low light and tight work spaces. Excellent value for the money
I have yet to use this particular lens, but I have had one before, and it is a sharp, contrasty, and light lens. Besides being a good macro lens, it is excellent for head and shoulder portraits when using APS-C type DSLRs. Great Photography Investment
If your interest in photography lies in the capture of small things, then this macro lens is for you. I obtained a great deal buying a used Canon macro lens through E-Bay. When I opened the box, I was in for a surprise. Everything looked new. For a moment I thought I had purchased a brand new lens. Considering that I paid only $350.00 for this glass compared with $469.00 at Amazon, the savings is considerable. If you are not familiar with macro photography, you can study who the lens work by reading the Owner's Manual which includes several languages including French, English and Spanish. The lens is extremely quiet which is a must if you like to make videos. The USM (Ultra Sonic Motor) is music to the ears for those videos aficionados. Focus is very fast, almost too fast I would say. You just aim and shoot and the pictures is immediately focused silently. It feel like a solid lens a bit on the heavy side, but not uncomfortable or cumbersome in any way. Its size and weight is ideal if you are taking out to the field. With this lens you have the possibility of taking macro shots and also normal pictures such as landscapes or portraits. I can handle these escenarios without a hitch. It has a sold metal mount and good-quality plastic. The diameter of the lens is 52mm which is perfect, because I can use accessories I had purchased for my "nifty-fifty" EF 50mm f/1.8 II prime lens, such as a UV filter and a polirizing filter and a plastic hood. If you are looking for an affordable macro and portrait lens, look no further. You can get great deals at E-Bay, just like I did. My favorite lens
I love this lens! Can't beat it for the price when it comes to macro shots. From flowers to insects it get's nice sharp images and at 2.8f, it doesn't need a massive amount of light. It makes a great portrait lens as well, sometimes I go to my "nifty-fifty" because you can be a little closer to your subject and obtain an even faster shutter speed but, I really like this 60mm Macro.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht

Canon 60mm macro lens provides options
As everyone who uses it knows, this lens has a small focal area on closeups...especially for insects. However, for the price (used vs. new) it was a great purchase and does add to the capacity of portrait work I'm developing with my Rebel. If someone complains about the 60mm it's because they didn't understand the limitations before they bought it...but then some think their VW should be a BMW.
