Divisive and political, but better than I would've thought
I've only watched the first two eps so far, but think I can rate it.
It was clear from the promos and DVD notes that it was going to be a sociopolitical statement. It is. I still feel like they could have accomplished the objective with a mixed ensemble cast, rather than the "black folks are heroes, white folks are evil" presentation.
THAT SAID: it is very well done. Gives great images of Black Culture in the '50s, the cast is very good with good development, and it gives good Lovecraftian mojo - even to the point of addressing mental shock & insanity, which is of course a major Call of Cthulhu trope.
SO, though I'm still annoyed at what I see as a missed opportunity, it's still definitely worth a watch.
