Jack Webb--"The D.I."
This is one of the few movies we were permitted to watch while I was a "Boot" at Parris Island in the '60's", loved the movie admired the stars, and even though the language was sanitized for movie audiences, I regard this movie as inspirational, especially to those of us who were being initiated into one of the most exclusive fraternities on the face of the earth--The United State Marine Corps. We were remolded by our D.I.'s and trained how to stay alive at Parris Island as most of us faced combat in Viet Nam, and remain Marines to our dying day. We used to say, that the only "Ex-Marine was Lee Harvey Oswald!" Semper Fi to all the brother and sister Marines who enjoy this movie.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht

Black and white, but a very entertaining movie to watch.
The DVD i purchased was well worth the money, and wasnt available in Australia. Ordered on Ebay to USA and received in fairly quickly. What good about this movie :: Jack Webb played the committed tough US army Drill Instructor ( D.I. ) Sergeant and did a fantastic job acting. Some of the army personal used in the making of this movie are actually real army cadets and leading military army corporals, sergeants and other army officers. Made in 1957, but well worth watching and very entertaining. Monica Lewis the night club bar singer puts on a great performance with the backing of the Ray Conniff singers and orchestra .. Very Authentic, Marine Corps Story Of Turning A Troubled Boy Into A Fighting Man
"The D.I." is a great, military film starring Jack Web. He's an old school, Marine, drill instructor trying to deal with a reluctant recruit. Web is tough as nails on his men and his only goal is to make outstanding Marines out of all of them. This is a story of a troubled, legacy recruit that, seemingly, cannot cut the muster. The D.I. sees something deep inside the boy that he knows can brought out to make a full fledged, fighting man. It's a great story and Jack Web does a bang-up job as the D.I. They have real Marines in this one to give it authenticity. I recommend "The D.I. to all fans of classic Hollywood fare.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht

Great movie
Haven't seen this movie in decades. I remembered it as great. It didn't disappoint. Still great. Jack Webb is a great actor who doesn't seem to get much play on the classic movie channels, etc. Too bad. He's perfect in this movie, which was all his.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht

How to discipline without Swearing or bloody violence!
Jack Webb did an outstanding job in this true story! It was very entertaining for our family! Even though this had a G rating you never once felt like the movie was unbelievable or compromised in order to keep it a G rated movie.Kids under 6 may find the shouting a little to scary for them.Although for the most part the whole family,could watch this movie together,I would not make this my first choice for family night unless all the kids are 12 & above! The D.I.
I was in the Marine Corps from 1970-1976 and this was an iconic video. I also was a Drill Instructor in 1975. I just purchased it and was able to watch it. OOH-RAH!
Got this movie classic because as a former Marine it's a snapshot in time of boot camp in the "old corp" cast actually includes marines as part of Jack Webb's training platoon on Parris Island. Overall a great movie the "Full Metal Jacket" of it's time.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu
