Reviews"...An incredible album, the band in their finest form, turning it in from start to finish...a masterpiece on every level: Ray Davies' finest hour, the Kinks' supreme achievement.", 4 stars out of 5 - "...ARTHUR sounds like a quiet masterpiece....Davies' tunes are spilling over with ideas and melodies..."
An album often overlooked in the Kinks' oeuvre. Originally written as the soundtrack for a TV play that never got made, Arthur is full of excellent tracks that really show off just how good they were as a band - standouts include Victoria, Mr. Churchill Says, Shangri-La and the wonderfully daft She's Bought a hat like Princess Marina.
The 2LP version adds several tracks which were slated for sides 3 and 4 (Arthur was originally intended to be a double) plus versions of 3 tracks recorded for Top of the Pops.
