A Great Sequel
Foyle's War is one of the best written (Anthony Horowitz) and acted of the many British series to come our way. The characters are believable and it is really a great ensemble cast who never seem to go off character. We know their character values and we can believe that the various segments actually occurred. Michael Kitchen, Honeysuckle Weeks, and Ellie Haddington are noteworthy. Anthony Howell (who doesn't appear in the episodes following the end of WWII was also an excellent contributor to the earlier series. The stories are an amalgam of various historical events that probably occurred during the time of the episode following WWII. The last episode in this set is one of the best of the series that makes you believe in the goodness of the human spirit but sad in that one of the major characters (Hilda Parks) chose to conclude her life over the circumstances of the show construct. The stories are well made, often connected in an unexpected way, and thus always thrillingly entertaining. A great series (all 8) that hopefully will be continued. Alas, it appears that the latter hope will not be realized because of costs.

Foyle's War Set 8
The last in the Foyle series (to date ??). Michael Kitchen's wonderful Christopher Foyle is a great character. If this is indeed the last series, I will miss him. This series, set in the early cold war days after WW2 is rather darker than the previous series. It is not as hopeful in tone as the series set during the war. It shows the fear and paranoia in those days, and the cat and mouse game played by all, British, Russians, Americans as main players. It is interesting in that information about many incidents shown in the series have now been accessible to people because the Official Secrets Act's restriction on participants revealing their activities during that time frame is ended. ( I believe it was 50 years?) The series bases many characters on actual people, especially, for example, Vera Atkins, the person they base Hilda Pierce's character on. So, if you are also into learning the history this was based on, it will give you several hints and surprises to have you heading off to your local library or internet source to learn more. .

Excellent series about WW II
If you are a WW II buff and love mystery and great characters, Foyles' War series is a must. It gives Americans a historically accurate view of life in rural England (with glimpses of London) during the early 1940's. DC Foyle, played by Michael Kitchen, is a man of few words but ironclad principle. He relentlessly pursues murderers when his superiors would rather he just forget about it and move one. All the cases are related in some way to the war that has changed the way of life of his beloved country. His driver is Samantha Stewart (Honeysuckle Weeks), a fine example of how English women pulled their weight during this difficult time. Her mischievous yet always respectful demeanor adds a delightful twist to the stories. Season 8 continues their adventures in the postwar, cold war years. You can't go wrong in investing in this fine series.

Foyle's War Continues To Be My Favorite Series
From beginning to end, these dramas are well-written and superbly acted and produced. The stories are complex but as they develop, the parts fit together in a satisfactory whole. The writer paints a fascinating picture of life in England after the war with the continuing shortages and reactionary philosophies, which explains how English society has changed so much in the last few decades. I am hoping that the next season will be available in this region soon!

Foyle's War is at the top of the list of great WW2 era British mystery series.
This is a great mystery series based primarily during WW2 era. The characters are excellent and have a great mix of humor and serious moments. This needs to be on your list of British TV series. You can always look at a few through Amazon and if you like them, either purchase the set or continue with the streaming version. You will not be disappointed.

Really Enjoy Foyle's War
Unlike some American cop or crime shows, Foyle's War has believable characters and stories. Season 7 and 8 are set in the months following WWII. The Cold War has started and the crime stories of that time period are engaging and the characters honest and not over the top.

One of the best TV miniseries - ever
The Foyle's War series is one of the best miniseries to have been aired on TV. It is brilliantly written, acted and cinemagraphed. Furthermore, each episode wrestles with at least one moral question. Despite being set in the WWII and immediate post war era, this series has profound messages for our current times.

A great series
As with the previous 7 series, these episodes have well plotted, multi-layered ,intriguing plots. Michael Kitchens continues to bring life to Foyles. The final episode gives the viewer a satisfying ending to the entire series.

Series was very engaging
This is a Great series, interesting plots, loved that it was taken world war 2 time frame and the history was accurate good humor too.

Foylesw War is a collectors dream
Husband could hardly wait for Set 8 to come out. He loved it, of course. Now he is starting over with the first season and will watch all of them again. Looking forward to Season 9 formatted for the USA.
