Good value
For the cost this does a good job. It is relatively easy to set up. I read a few reviews and some had problems with it skipping straight into the middle but I found removing the weight from the arm solved this and now it travels just in front of the stylus and still picks up the dust even after using a record cloth prior to playing. I don't think you need that much weight for it to perform well. It may be just my deck but it worked for me. It could do with a little bit more height adjustment, there was only just enough to set up properly with my Rega Planar 3. Overall it's fine.For the cost this does a good job. Nice idea but needs design refinement
The plastic bristle holder is too long which needs the metal arm to be raised well above the height of the record. The stand for the arm is adjustable for height but needs to be at the top of its extension to get the necessary clearance above the record. This means the record deck lid cannot be closed during use. The sliding weight on the arm which adjusts the downward force on the brush is too loose and therefore has to be re-positioned each time the brush is used. This adjustment is very sensitive otherwise the brush either stands still or skates quickly across the record during play. Disappointing Gizzmo
Read the reviews and was hopeful this simple gadget might actually help cut down static on modern cut vinyl LP's such as those from Ed Sheeran which, for whatever reason, attract very strong static charge with each play. The idea with this arm is to track the record surface with a brush of lightweight carbon bristles connected via the metal arm/bearing to a ground lead in turn connected to the amplifier's ground point while the record is playing. Sadly I found locating the 'ideal' position to mount the arm troublesome and no amount of adjustment of the sliding weight and/or base position has been able to get the arm to consistently track properly and when it does track it did nothing to prevent the static build up on these new LP's. Construction is OK except for the very loose sliding arm ... It Works!
I looked at various record-cleaning options before settling on this anti-static cleaning arm. Some reviewers have said that it is difficult to set up, or fails to track across the record. I didn’t have either of these problems. The ground wire is long enough to reach the ground connection on my amplifier, so was easy to connect. Slides too much.
Although it is easy to fit, the overly soft fibres mean that they bend too flat, and won't track the grooves. It just slides to the middle grooves of an LP and stays there. I have tried more, and less, weight, but the only way to get it to track seems to be to bend the fibres backwards each time.
