In Stanley Kubrick's 1968 film, 2001: A Space Odyssey, an alien artifact is found on the moon. An expedition tracking the artifact's signal is sent to Jupiter to investigate. The mission ends with disastrous results: The Discovery's crew disappears and the ship is left orbiting Io, a Jovian moon. The sole survivor is HAL, a homicidal computer.<br><br>In 2010: The Year We Make Contact, the Peter Hyams-directed sequel to 2001, a joint American-Russian mission sends a crew aboard the Leonov to "awaken" HAL and investigate what went wrong on the Discovery flight.<br><br>Released the same year as the film on which it is based, 2010: The Graphic Action Game for the ColecoVision puts you aboard the Leonov as a scientist, computer expert, and engineer. Your job is to get the Discovery up and running and out of Io orbit by repairing and powering systems' circuits -- life support, communications, engines, and reactor. You must also repair and power up the HAL 9000 computer. HAL will help you power up other systems' circuits once he has been resuscitated.Product Identifiers
