When his older brother abdicates the throne, nervous-mannered successor George "Bertie" VI (Colin Firth) reluctantly dons the crown. Though his stutter soon raises concerns about his leadership skills, King George VI eventually comes into his own with the help of unconventional speech therapist Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush). Before long the king and Lionel have forged an unlikely bond, a bond that proves to have real strength when the United Kingdom is forced to flex its international might.

From Stutterer to National Hero
The King's Speech depicts a time in Britain's history when its leader needed help learning to speak without stuttering. It is filled with both royal snobbery and vulnerability, and just a touch of the common man. The cast are perfectly suited to their roles, both royal and common. I especially liked the depiction of how Logue (the speech therapist) forced the king to step down from his high status to learn from a simple teacher. There is hardly a wasted moment during this movie. I believe in years to come it will stand alone as one of greatest movies ever made about the British royal family.

Best Movie Of The Year
Great movie. It deserved to win the Oscars for Best Movie and Best Leading Actor as well as two other Oscars.

Great movie and great acting. One of my all-time favorites!
This is one of my all-time favorite movies. The acting is so well done and Colin deserved the Best Actor Oscar award. Some scratching on the back, yet the movie played well.

Kings Speech
Wonderful movie. A true story and I remember King George V1 being on the throne. He did not do a great deal of public speaking, was a shy man I guess. I love the movie. Watch it often.

Great movie
Very good movie. I've been looking for this for years and finally found it. It was a movie my fiance and I found ourselves zoned out too. So worth the money.

Tired of things like this when ordering on line!
The DVD Stopped about 3/4 of the way through and we were never able to finish watching it. I was so fed-up, I tossed it! It was a great movie and we would have loved to see the ending!
