"Magnificent Moodies"
Featuring 4 x CD`s and a DVD with book in quality card box , this is a quality set and brilliant music from a band years ahead of their time , can`t wait for subsequent 50th anniversary releases from the core 7 albums.

In Search of the Right Chord ???
I have a complete collection of Moody Blues on LP and some way down the road of repetition on CD in extended and 5.1 SACD. This was a long awaited 5.1 release as the previous SACD was only in stereo. The first 7 LP's of the newer Moodies line-up of Hayward,Lodge,Edge,Pinder and Thomas were ground breaking progressive releases. In Search of the Lost Chord on SACD completed the recordings in what was the old Quad format. What a big let down I found in the newly discovered multi-channel tapes that have forged this 50th Anniversary edition in the 5.1 mix. Compared with the others already released there is just something wrong to my ears as it's poorly balanced between front and center/back channels.The 2 channel stereo mix is a better listening experience. The 5.1 has no great 3D effect with ... I have a complete collection of Moody Blues on LP and some way down the road of repetition on CD in extended and 5.1 SACD. Maybe that's why I found the earlier LP recordings I always had to tweak down the bass, and up the treble, so this has not been addressed.. Overall the extras on DVD and other recordings do still warrant buying this set, but what a shame about the 5.1 compared with all the other albums already released in 5.1.

A superb repackage of one of the seminal psychedelic/ progressive rock albums.
One of the Moody Blues 'Core 7' albums well worth revisiting on it's 50th anniversary. Although many of the extra tracks can be found on other rereleases and compilations, this is the definitive snapshot of where the band were in 1968. What makes this package worth it's salt is the DVD showing a band growing as songwriters and performers and well and truly leaving their R n B roots behind. Completed with a wonderful and interesting booklet this is a diamond in the collection of any Moodies fan.One of the Moody Blues 'Core 7' albums well worth revisiting on it's 50th anniversary. Although many of the extra tracks can be found on other rereleases and compilations, this is the definitive snapshot of where the band were in 1968. What makes this package worth it's salt is the DVD showing a band growing as songwriters and performers and well and truly leaving their R n B roots behind. Completed with a wonderful and interesting booklet this is a diamond in the collection of any Moodies fan.

Very little new but a lovely well thought out box set.
Very little that wasn't already available., but a well put together and packaged box set that sums up that period in the Moodies progression. One for the fans, now can we have the same for the rest of the magnificent seven albums.
