Lightweight and Impenetrable!
The title may seem positive, but locks are not things you always want to be lightweight. This lock is mostly zinc (a very soft metal) with very small amounts of brass (not steel?!) in places where it "counts". The only parts on the entire lock that are steel are the lock retainer screws and the lock cylinder backplate. The locking palls (the bits that actually hold onto the receiver) and the door frame receiver are made of brass! Impenetrable also sounds great, except the lock core is so cheaply made that I couldn't even get the key to go in. Impenetrable by the key intended to unlock it. Forcing it by jiggling around the pins, the key will finally go in all the way; but after all the work of getting it in, the key does not turn. This lock is junk. As a locksmith, it pains me to say the following. A Kwikset lock would be an upgrade from this (Kwikset is also junk, but less junk). Do NOT buy this product!
The lock appeared to work correctly initially, but then after a few days stopped working. Upon opening it up, it turned out that when they copied the design, they forgot to include one of the rails that the moving mechanism slides against, and didn't have a bump on the back piece that keeps everything pressed together. So, the lock mechanism would NOT slide up to lock the door. After some modification (using the back-plate from the old lock that I was replacing), and a "hinky" way of holding that old back-plate in, it is workable. But, I would NOT recommend you buy this product, unless you enjoy extra work fixing other people's mistakes...Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu
