The black part can be removed if you just want the silver part with no V-Strom logo. Unfortunately the screws were shipped loose and one had fallen off, only by a miracle it hadn't gotten lost. And the front rubber vibration mount was too large for the included washer, you may need to find a larger washer. Other than these minor issues I really like this chain guard.

The metal is very strong. The hex head chrome bolts holding the black part to the silver part were loose (must be tighten) but add to the Cool Factor. Only 1 mounting bolt lines up (U can use either the frt one or the bck one). Good news, the mounting bolts are the right size. I choose the back mount to bolt - I tightened it, seems enough to hold it. Adding blue loc-tight
