  • could be better

While not a bad documentary,it's not as strong or well doneas The Rise And Fall Of WCW. My 1st issue is, the 90 minutesis not enough to capture thefeel of the war. My 2nd issue is, they took toolong to play clips from events, rather than move on and talk. The long clips would have actually been fine in a longer documentary, but here it makes it feel like theywere just filling time instead of discussing what happened. 3rd, it's highly WWF/WWE opinions, not just facts. Gerald Brisco'sattitude is not only disgusting, is a bit childish; like my dad will beatyour dad up mentality with the issue of Eric Bishof vs Vince McMahon as a company. Jim Ross said WCW only pushed 1 new wrestler (meaning Goldberg), but that's not true, cause guys like Diamond Dallas Page, Paul Wight(Giant), and Chris Benoit wereable to reach the top. It just may not have been done the bestway or time possible. In fact, it's mostly wrestlers andother employees of the then WWF. With the exception of Chris Jericho,Chris Benoit, Paul Wight, and RicFlair (who all had worked for bothor left WCW for the other) there were no WCW people to giveopinions. There was top WWE talent, but noone from top WCW except Flair. Again, those guys all worked for WWF, so it's highly 1 sided. 4th, it's not made in a linear, day by day or week to week manner. Often it talks about something then jumps back to talk about something that happened weeks before. 5th because it's only 1 disc, itdoesn't carry much with bonusmatches as special features. Now some of them complimentparts of the documentary, so youcan see the event in full glory.(Such as what lead to Austin givingMcMahon a Stunner.)There are 4 full wrestling matches. The only really good match is Steve Austin & Shawn Michaelavs British Bulldog & Owen Hart.Goldberg vs Hogan is not aterrible match, albiet neither is a great technical wrestler. However, there are so many other matches that could be used to define WCW. If there was 1 pearl among the extras, it would the Jim Cornette rant/commentary saying how too many people call themselves an icon of wrestling. So all in all, it's not bad. It mostly is things we already knew before. There's a few different things people like Ric Flair & Paul Wight. I especially appreciated how they let Mic Foley talk a while about the night he won the title, how much it meant to him, but also how he felt disrespected by WCW.

This documentary is about the historical rivalry between WCW Monday nitro and WWF (WWE) Monday night Raw. It goes from the begining of wcws rise to elite status to clash with the powerhouse wwf. This documentary covers the highs and lows of both companies during their feud with each other for Monday night TV rating supremacy. Relive pivotal moments in wrestling history that turned Wrestling entertainment into the global phenomenon it is today.
