With their new lineup in place, the Bears breeze their way into the championship game, in which they must battle their rivals, the Yankees, in order to exact revenge and win the title.Matthau's Buttermaker is a gem of a character, tossing off cynical one-liners with a vehemence that is truly hysterical. Ritchie strikes further gold with his youthful cast, who all embody their characters with a comic realism that is both heartwarming and humorous, making THE BAD NEWS BEARS one of the finest sports comedies ever made.

    A movie that bridges the decades

    It has really held up well! Its not as much a kids' movie as it is a movie about being a kid, being an outcast, and the flawed adults running the show. It has moments of hilariousness and authenticity. You'll recognize all the classic personalities from your youth: the fat kid, the nerd, shy kid, the tomboy, the tough guy, the fighter...... The characters are treated with respect, and as someone who grew up in the era, the nostalgia of the arcade, the old bikes, the old alcoholic pool cleaner driving around with an open cooler in the back seat...... Well, Let's just say the world has sure changed!
