    The only B-36 sound track.....Ever!!!

    A wonderful history of the B-36 bomber named the "Peacemaker" True to it's name, the bomber was never in war, as the Cold War nations knew that the bomber was able to drop an atomic bomb on them, anywhere in the world. As one was in the air over them 24 hours a day, even the enemy became peaceful. Strategic Air Command has the only recording of the distinctive sound the six pusher props and its' four jet motors, Americans in the 1950s often heard this as they flew around the world protecting us. The great cast and famous supporting cast go to make this a "Must Have" classic.

    A must for the serious collector.

    This movie lacks the sophistication of current movies and shows the innocence of bygone days and that is what makes it a fantastic cinematic experience. I grew up in the cold war and was a fan of the Strategic Air Command as a weapons system. It was real time showed the potentially existential threat of nuclear war. Tremendous footage of the B-36 Super Bomber which was a great show of force, but had an extremely short service life. Any movie with James Stewart and June Allyson was destined to be a Classic. I was thrilled to see there were a few copies left and being Blu-ray was the icing on the cake. Awesome, awesome, and very awesome.

    Strategic Air Command

    Inspired in part by the true story of baseball great Ted Williams, who after serving in World War II was drafted to serve in the Korean War just as his baseball career was taking off. Career and family take a back seat when 'Dutch' Holland is drafted again to train pilots in the Air Force's new B-36 and B-47 bombers.

    one of the best aviation movies

    Strategic Air Command is one of the best-ever aviation movies, great footage of early 50's bombers and airbase scenes. If you love airplanes this one is for you, it has June Allyson too!

    I miss SAC

    My first MajCom assignment was SAC back in the heady days of the Cold War. I miss SAC so much. This DVD brought back some fond memories. The movie takes place in a period before I went active duty. In my day, we had BUFF's and F-106 Deltas. Nonetheless, the movie was both captivating and quite enjoyable. Jimmy Stewart as the lead role was spot-on. I have watched this movie countless times and I can't think of an actor who could have played this role like Jimmy. An added surprise was finding this movie in BluRay. I can finally put my VHS copy to rest. LOL
