    Gettysburg Director's Cut 2011 blu-ray

    This should be required viewing for anyone who cares about American history and the Civil War. The blu-ray is impeccable. Highly recommended.

    Wonderful!

    A good account of the strategy of the battle of Gettysburg. A very nice remastering of this 1993 film in 2011. A MUST for any history buff concerning the Civil War. Three years plus into the war, this film gives the audience a great perspective from both sides as to why this battle would be so instrumental concerning the outcome of the war.

    Ambitious but not engaging

    This movie will satisfy any Civil War enthusiast but Ron Maxwell could have done so much better with this movie. One of the major flaws honestly is the score. Randy Edelman's dramatic and rousing music from Gettysburg didn't make an appearance in this movie. The movie could have used a little more balance between the stories of the North and South but I understand that this movie was to focus on the career and life of "Stonewall" Jackson. The extended version footage is excellent. It helps round out the story quite well. I feel bad for actors Chris Conner and Cooper Huckabee whose scenes as John Wilkes Booth and Henry Harrison were omitted from the theatrical version of this film but are now inserted into the extended cut. It's a shame this movie failed miserably at the box office. It ...
