A must read for all teachers!
I wish all teachers were like Mr. Falker. Teachers have a wonderful opportunity to change a child's life, it just may take a little digging and a watchful eye to see how. Teachers also can impact a child's life for greatness but to often they let them fall through the cracks and pass them on to the next one. Mr. Falker or Mr. Felker (in real life) chose not to let Trisha fail and fall through any cracks. He chose to patiently spend the extra time after school to help solve this young girls learning problem and teaching her to deal with and over come it. By doing this he set a young, insecure, horribly bullied little girl on her way to becoming a wonderful children's author by the name of Patricia Polacco. Great book to read aloud to class
I have a lot of low readers in my class and I like them to feel that they aren't the only ones who are struggling. Love and perseverance over adversity in action.
