Got this 80’s classic for one of the lowest prices I could find it at. It’s was packaged and shipped with great care and shipping was fast as well. The movie came exactly as described and from the photos that were posted. It’s pristine excellent mint condition and brand new sealed. I would definitely recommend this seller and I want to say thanks so much for this movie! One of the greatest films of all time and now I own it on 4k!

Pump it up.
I enjoy scary movies that set a mood of dread and are creepy as opposed to slasher fare. In that respect THE WITCH fits the bill. My only problem with the film is technical: i couldn't make out much of the dialogue-not because of the English accents or the attempt to duplicate 17th century speech, but because the dialogue is recorded buried in the mix or maybe just too soft. I don't currently have a sound bar, but still... Anyhow, I did think it is a good chiller.I enjoy scary movies that set a mood of dread and are creepy as opposed to slasher fare. If you're really big into 16th century time pieces maybe you'll like it.
I'm sure that if you could look into the 'real history' of early Salem, Ma., there was some 'witchcraft' going on. Were the witches the ones that were executed? I have no idea. But to say that there were NO witches, as is the story from historians nowadays, is unlikely. (I happen to have met many that claim to be witches). In this story the witches existed but lived outside the stockade. They may not have been related to any of the settlers. What they were was a bunch of women that lived naked in the woods. (Why were they naked? Who knows.) For the most part the characters were annoying and bland. The camera and lighting were great. But the back drops were leafless trees, mud, and the ugly lack of colors of fall/winter. I'm sure the actors were very talented but ... I'm sure that if you could look into the 'real history' of early Salem, Ma., there was some 'witchcraft' going on. Were the witches the ones that were executed? I have no idea. The authenticity of the sets may have been accurate. The flaw was a lackluster plot. Plot: A man and his family are thrown out of the settlement because he had too much pride. They are having a real rough go of it in this new world. Bad things happen because a clandestine witch is preying on them- let's say spiritually or lifeforce-wise. They are up against what they can't fight because they don't even know that it is there. In the final two scenes there are ridiculous psychological actions taken. Had they allowed pondering for a few months maybe they could have pulled off the total mental transformation required. If you're really big into 16th century timepieces maybe you'll like it. I did not like this film at all.

Blame it on the hype
Dull film. Characters are somewhat spoken with a heavy accent which led me to raise volume higher than expected. The storyline is okayish but not very intriguing. Left me a bit confused how the plot played out. So much hype for a film that rarely surprised me while watching it.

Shows what witches are and how they performed their magic. Not as scary as I hoped but interesting. I can see why someone would become a witch because those were hard times and why the original colonies were so paranoid. I
