Product Information
"Run silent, run deep" is a term that accurately describes the mission of the submarine in this tense World War II drama. Commander Richardson (Clark Gable) is the only survivor when his sub is hit by a notorious Japanese destroyer dubbed Bongo Pete in the Bongo Straits of Japan. Back at Pearl Harbor, Richardson obsessively plays out strategies that would have saved his crew. When he is reassigned a new ship in the Pacific, he must face old demons as well as the sub's younger executive officer who was slated for captain, Lt. Bledsoe (Burt Lancaster). Bledsoe has the support of his crew and locks horns easily with Richardson, but when the captain disobeys navy orders to stay clear of the Bongo Straits, taking the crew right in to go after Bongo Pete, there is very nearly a mutiny. RUN SILENT, RUN DEEP is marked by strong performances, particularly by Gable, and a taut script. The scenes of the rigorous sub drills the captain puts his crew through are intensive and exceptional.Product Identifiers

Good old fashioned entertainment with real actors.
The actors today couldn't carry Burt and Clark's jock straps. Today they are too busy being political and trying to act if they knew how. Excellent movie without computer graphics and enhancements. It’s about Gable
I like Clark Gable and Burt Lancaster it’s too shabby either. Subject matter is one of my favorites too, WWII. Watching the exciting bow shot by a submarine charging towards a oncoming destroyer quite well carried out. I’d give the film a 4/5 ratingBestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu

Run Silent Run Deep
I have always liked this movie and would watch it when I found it on a channel. It doesn’t seem to be public domain yet so I purchased the DVD in good condition. The movie is so realistic since the sub used was the regular width and you can tell how cramped it would be on a WW2 sub. Holds your attention

great movie...a favorite

Great Movie / No purchase Problems

Classic
While many do not think that old b/w or colorized versions cannot stand up today’s movie making, they’re always a good story to be found.
