Lacking in quality
Lacking in quality, the gears were ill formed in which they bind, the bracket will not stay in place after a few turns, the bracket itself was ill formed to where it was not perpendicular and had to be reformed. The most undesirable issue...it was put together backwards...opposite of what the picture shows. That's right, the crank was on the wrong side and when the crank was turned it would push the peas out instead of pulling them in. After all the modifications, it does work. It is better than shelling by hand. Can shell a pod in one second. It is worth about $20, not $45.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu

The extremely little sheller of little value.
I purchased the peas sheller not realizing it was like a child's toy. We have a good crop of purple hulls peas and needed a way to shell them other than hand shelling. We followed the instructions to the letter. Using a variable speed 20V Dewalt drill. Irregardless of the speed we tried it crushed 4 times more peas than it shelled. So far: disappointed! UPDATE: MUCH, MUCH BETTER SECOND TIME!!!
I'm not totally giving up on this purchase, but, so far, I'm disappointed. While it will shell a goodly proportion of your pea-pickings, it will also squash more than I like. It seems to relate to the moisture content to the shells. Although I havn't tried the really "crunchy" dried ones, if your pea still has a "leathery" feel, the sheller doesn't do a good job or popping the peas out...it smashes them. They seem to address the issue when they suggest a blanching treatment, then cool and dry them....then try again. I havn't tried that either. All in all, just not as simple as I had hoped. I'm going to keep working with it, but not good so far! UPDATE: TRIED THIS SHELLER AGAIN TODAY WITH THE SHELLS MUCH DRIER....MANY OF THEM CRUNCHY! WORKED MUCH, MUCH BETTER....SHELLED ABOUT 2 QUARTS OF PEAS IN 30 MINUTES. IT DID MASH A FEW, BUT A REASONABLE SACRIFICE FOR THE SPEED AND CONVENIENCE. Not the best for processing wondo peas
Gears slipped likes to crush peas overall consistency in removing peas from pod poor it takes 2 people to operate and a drill is absolutely necessary to make it worth the time. Sometimes it works ok others u fight it and get nowhereBestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu

Good product

Plastic gears don't hold up
Bought it for shelling purple hull peas. Worked good for a few minutes then the plastic gears began to slip and in about 20 minutes the gears stripped out.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu
