"Engineering Design is widely acknowledged to be the most complete available treatise on systematic design methods. In it, each step of the engineering design process and associated best practices are documented. The book has particularly strong sections on design from the functional perspective and on the phase of the process between conceptual and detail design in which most key design decisions are made. The 3rd edition includes new material on project planning and scheduling. Anyone committed to understanding the design process should be familiar with the contents of this book."Warren Seering, Weber-Shaughness Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of TechnologyOn the second edition of this title: "With a renewed interest in the critical role product design plays in maintaining economic competitiveness, American designers would be well advised to become thoroughly acquainted with this wealth of information."American Scientist, "Engineering Design is widely acknowledged to be the most complete available treatise on systematic design methods. Synopsis
This proven and internationally recognized text teaches the methods of engineering design as a condition of successful product development. It breaks down the design process into phases and then into distinct steps, each with its own working methods., Effective engineering design must be carefully planned and systematically executed. In particular, engineering design methods must integrate the many different aspects of designing and the priorities of the end-user.This proven and internationally recognized text teaches the methods and ideas of engineering design as a condition of successful product development. It breaks down the design process into phases and then into distinct steps, each with its own working methods. Having established itself, in earlier editions, as a key text, Engineering Design (3rd edition) is enhanced with more input from practising engineers, providing more examples of product development; it also tightens the scientific bases of its design ideas with new solution fields in composite components, building methods, mechatronics and adaptronics and pays attention to the economic aspects of design and development including quality assurance. The third edition also integrates electronic design process technology into its methods.Engineering Design (3rd edition) is translated and edited by Ken Wallace, Chairman of the Engineering Design Centre at the University of Cambridge and Lucinne Blessing, Professor of Engineering Design at the Technical University of Berlin. It is translated from the sixth German edition.Topics covered include: psychology of design; product planning and development; the design process including design for recycling; conceptual design; embodiment design; size ranges and modular products; design for quality and minimum cost. Written to provide students and tutors of engineering design with all thefundamental information they require in a crucial subject, Engineering Design (3rd edition) will also be of immense value as a reference to anyone working in the area., Engineering design must be carefully planned and systematically executed. In particular, engineering design methods must integrate the many different aspects of designing and the priorities of the end-user. Engineering Design (3rd edition) describes a systematic approach to engineering design. The authors argue that such an approach, applied flexibly and adapted to a particular task, is essential for successful product development. The design process is first broken down into phases and then into distinct steps, each with its own working methods. The third edition of this internationally-recognised text is enhanced with new perspectives and the latest thinking. These include extended treatment of product planning; new sections on organisation structures, simultaneous engineering, leadership and team behaviour; and updated chapters on quality methods and estimating costs. New examples have been added and existing ones extended, with additions on design to minimise wear, design for recycling, mechanical connections, mechatronics, and adaptronics. Engineering Design (3rd edition) is translated and edited from the sixth German edition by Ken Wallace, Professor of Engineering Design at the University of Cambridge, and Luciënne Blessing, Professor of Engineering Design and Methodology at the Technical University of Berlin. Topics covered include: fundamentals; product planning and product development; task clarification and conceptual design; embodiment design rules, principles and guidelines; mechanical connections, mechatronics and adaptronics; size ranges and modular products; quality methods; and cost estimation methods. The book provides a comprehensive guide to successful product development for practising designers, students, and design educators. Fundamentals are emphasised throughout and short-term trends avoided; so the approach described provides a sound basis for design courses that help students move quickly and effectively into design practice., Effective engineering design must be carefully planned and systematically executed. It breaks down the design process into phases and then into distinct steps, each with its own working methods. Earlier editions of this book already have a well-known reputation among engineering designers. The book has been translated by two of the world's most respected English-speaking engineering designers. It provides in-depth and comprehensive coverage of its subject; it sharply written and is well-illustrated with many examples that make this the standard textbook on engineering design. The book provides more examples of product development; it also tightens the scientific bases of its design ideas with new solution fields in composite components, building methods, mechatronics and adaptronics., Effective engineering design must be carefully planned and systematically executed. - n***m (110)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzter MonatBestätigter KaufGood price for the book. Shipping was slow. Messaged the seller a week after I ordered it to see when they were going to ship it. They responded immediately and said it would be shipped out soon. Got it about a week later. Book did arrive in the date range that they provided though Minimal packaging. Book is Shrink wrapped and only wrapped in thin plastic. No bubble wrap. Book is in good shape though.
- c***t (923)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzte 6 MonateBestätigter KaufThe book I bought was reasonably priced and when it arrived it was in the 'Like New' condition specified in the listing. However, when I saw that the seller had not shipped the book after more than 15 days had passed since my order I felt I must write to say that I had actually placed an order with the seller and inquire when it planned to send the book. The brusque reply was that a tracking number was available, but no number HAD been created until I pointed out that I had placed the order.Catland by Hughes, Kathryn, Like New Used, Free shipping in the US (Nr. 356798982438)
