Good but far form great.
Saw this movie when I was in college and remember liking it. It was directed by Sydney J. Furie who directed "The Boys In Company C", another really good Vietnam War film. This one though not as good as that earlier effort and after seeing it again, not all that good period is still a good and welcomed addition to my collection. It's nice to see Cheryl Ladd in something other than "Charlie's Angels" or some other television trash. She's in her absolute prime here and is beautifully photographed. Wahl is a total lightweight as an actor in most roles and that is on full display here being miscast as a brilliant Navy doctor and outshone in almost every scene by the other actors he's working with. The scene where he is called upon to be tearful is an embarrassment. Though very handsome he just could not cut it here. Furie's direction is off here as well. The battle scenes are contrived, not very well staged and shot and often very poorly lit in the night scenes. The plot is very predictable, almost potboiler but it's still a good time waster to watch on a rainy winter day.

Heart tugger
Great movie! I have wanted since seeing it when it originally came out. Cheryl Ladd and Ken Wahl were very believable in their roles. A very well made love story that will appeal to men as well. I highly recommend this movie!

A Vietnam War - Chick Flick!
This is unquestionably the best Viet Nam War / Chick Flick that's been made to date. I enjoyed it immensely and highly recommend it. R. Lee Ermy is in a classic bit part to help make it as realistic a human experience as possible. Both Wahl and Ladd present themselves very well and all in all it's just a very nice story.

Better than the famous Classics!
Purple Hearts is without a doubt one of the greatest movies ever made. Cheryl Ladd was incredible as was Ken Wahl. The story keeps you riding wave after wave of emotion throughout. There is nothing bad one could say about this amazing film.

The title is somewhat misleading if it suggests to somebody a combat film. It isn't.
Bought this film to replace an old non-widescreen version. A great non-combat war film. Focuses on a Vietnam War MASH unit and growing love affair. Enjoyable film

True heroes are portrayed in this moive.
Being from the Nam era, this movie contains excellent content. Ken Wahl is an amazing actor.
