So far, so good....
I expected a hard back book and didn't read the fine print, but after 3 chapters I'm engrossed. The author starts out by comparing his subject to the movie version, which is quite apropos since that is WHY I purchased the book...to find out about the REAL Patton rather than the fictionalized version. An excellent and detailed biography if a famous American and exceptional man.
This massive volume of 949 pages was written by Carlo D'Este and published in 1995. It contains 11 chapters of detailed information on Patton's ancestry, family, birth, the interwar years, and his service in World Wars I and II. It shows the subject of the book as a colorful, controversial, complex figure, who was admired and reviled in equal measure.
