NotesHoly Diver - DIO - Holy Diver is the debut studio album by American heavy metal band Dio, released in 1983. Vocalist Ronnie James Dio had just finished his first tenure in Black Sabbath, whose drummer Vinny Appice he took with him to put together his own band. The roster was completed by his former band mate in Rainbow Jimmy Bain on bass and by the young guitarist Vivian Campbell, coming from the NWOBHM band Sweet Savage. The album was acclaimed by the music press and is the most successful of the band. The cover features the band mascot, Murray spinning chains around waves where a man with a priest or minister's collar in chains is floating. Dio was quick to argue that appearances are misleading, that it could just as easily be a priest killing a devil, wanting people not to "judge a book by it's cover".

Classic hard rock, DIO,Rainbow

A must have album for Heavy Metal collectors
The seller said it was new and gave me a great offer on it but when it showed up it looks like somebody had it in a dingy basement for 30 years untouched after being played and worn out, it had a huge circular scratch around the cd which didn't ruin the cd but made track one unplayable, the booklet looked tattered and worn out and the jewel was discolored, scratched and totally unusable. This diffidently was not new more like acceptable or good 1/5 About the album, it was fantastic not one bad or weak track, and the guitar work, drumming, keyboards, and bass work was absolutely phenomenal also who can forget Ronnie's beastly vocals especially on Gypsy, Straight Through The Heart, and Don't Talk To Strangers Get this album and play it loud Highlight tracks Gypsy, Don't Talk To Strangers, Rainbow In The Dark, Holy Diver, Straight Through The Heart, and Shame On The Night R.I.P Ronnie James Dio
