Overall very intriguing show.
The first two episodes were exceptionally well written. They hooked me on the series and I bought the DVD since I had missed episodes 3 and 4 on our local PBS station. However, episode three was of lesser quality, and on the DVD included characters saying the "f" word, as well as some nudity. Not family viewing. The quality resumed in episodes 5 and 6, but the ending was rather abrupt. This series spiked my interest in World War I and nursing and I have purchased some books to learn more about it.

ww1 inlightment
great story line which keeps your attention for entire story with the lives of the characters, their interacting with each and the horrors of war. I would recommend this dvd to all because of the story line and the excellent acting of the actors bringing the characters to life.

A wonderful show!
We loved this from the very beginning moments, watched it on local PBS station-later found out it was from year before in UK-and then purchased DVD. Unfortunately they did not renew this series so there is only season one. Well written, acted and well worth viewing! 5 stars!

Wonderful film.....realistic, engaging and gives one a real sense of the horrors of war on young men. A film that will be watched more than once.
