SynopsisPyramids is the seventh book in the award-winning comic fantasy Discworld series by Terry Pratchett. In Pyramids, you'll discover the tale of Teppic, a student at the Assassin's Guild of Ankh-Morpok and prince of the tiny kingdom of Djelibeybi, thrust into the role of pharaoh after his father's sudden death. It's bad enough being new on the job, but Teppic hasn't a clue as to what a pharaoh is supposed to do. First, there's the monumental task of building a suitable resting place for Dad -- a pyramid to end all pyramids. Then there are the myriad administrative duties, such as dealing with mad priests, sacred crocodiles, and marching mummies. And to top it all off, the adolescent pharaoh discovers deceit, betrayal-not to mention a headstrong handmaiden-at the heart of his realm. Sometimes being a god is no fun at all..., It's bad enough being new on the job, but Teppic hasn't a clue as to what a pharaoh is supposed to do. After all, he's been trained at Ankh-Morpork's famed assassins' school, across the sea from the Kingdom of the Sun.First, there's the monumental task of building a suitable resting place for Dad -- a pyramid to end all pyramids. • A Book Full of Mirth and Merriment

This is an extremely funny tongue-in-cheek look at the pyramids and the "behind the scenes" preparation of them after a pharaoh departs this world. Teppic's father has just died, and now it's his turn to take the reins of Pharaonic rule (or is that moronic rule? Of course, he returns just in time to approve the burial pyramid for his father, even though he knows there are no funds in the kingdom to pay for it. So he decides to go "big" with his purchase. At the same time we watch Dios (his eunuch) manipulate the new, young, and (he believes) dimwitted young man who will rule next. Add to that the Master Builder Dil, and you have the makings of an Egyptian farce what would have made even Horus laugh. I'd say it's one of Pratchett's best books, but that's like saying which flavor of ice cream is the tastiest. Anyway, if you get this book, be prepared for some belly-wrenching laughter. Oh, and the one liner's will leave you gasping for breath, too!
