The Best Tom Waits
This is the first Tom Waits CD I ever heard, and it remains my favorite. Every song is memorable, every arrangement perfection. His growling, gravel voice is the perfect instrument for transporting listeners the the darkest, seediest parts of New Orleans. When I first heard "I Wish I Was in New Orleans", it made me homesick for a place I had not yet experienced.

Early Waits masterpiece!
Tom's first truly great album. Every track is a gem and memorable. An American genius.

In the dirt, blues. Made to mud with tears
If you want to get deep in the blues .if you want to get deep. The writing is fantastic. The meaning is depressing. It's human situation. It is soulful. It's honesty it's grounded. It's funny the music... I am with that word get one. I got one. You should get two
