Looking at the ways in which the memory of slavery affects present-day relations in Amsterdam, this ethnographic account reveals a paradox: while there is growing official attention to the country's slavery past (monuments, festivals, ritual occasions), many interlocutors showed little interest in the topic. This book follows the issue of slavery in everyday realities and offers a fine-grained ethnography of how people refer to this past., Looking at the ways in which the memory of slavery affects present-day relations in Amsterdam, this ethnographic account reveals a paradox: while there is growing official attention to the country's slavery past (monuments, festivals, ritual occasions), many interlocutors showed little interest in the topic. Developing the notion of "trace" as a seminal notion to explore this paradox, this book follows the issue of slavery in everyday realities and offers a fine-grained ethnography of how people refer to this past - often in almost unconscious ways - and weave it into their perceptions of present-day issues.

    Purchased 5 car Madison rail car set at auction. Received package well wrapped and in original box. Cars themselves are in excellent condition and mostly as described, although I believe they have seen some track time. That being said, seller offers returns so I'm confident seller was told these cars were new by whomever he got them from. The purchase price was excellent so when averaged with a higher than normal shipping fee it turned out to be an overall good deal.

    Seller responded quickly to my question before purchasing and the book is in great condition, basically "like new" except for some yellowing. I also appreciate that they don't put huge stickers on the books like a lot of the other big sellers. It was shipped quickly, arrived in 1 week, and pretty well packaged so there was no shipping damage (in spite of USPS wedging the cardboard envelope so tightly in my mailbox that I almost couldn't get it out). I'd definitely buy from them again.
