The Garmin Rino 650 series is a mobile, handheld GPS device and radio that tracks your location and direction via mapping software and a 3-axis built-in compass. You can use it to get a bird's-eye view of your position via GPS and maintain your location on the landscape. This is possible even when the location has heavy vegetation cover. The Garmin Rino features a number of included accessories. There is a barometric altimeter that is built right in, a vibration alert, a GMRS, two-way radios, and a calendar. A tracking log and calculator are included. The dimensions are 7.5 inches in height by 2.4 inches in width by 1.8 inches in depth. The weight is only 0.7 pounds, making it easy to carry. This device has sensitive GPS-type receivers that achieve the required location tracking. It offers waypoints and backtracking options that allow you to leave a location using the same route. Additional accessories include security and safety watches plus weather warnings. This waterproof, shockproof gear is suitable for long excursions. The Garmin portable units have a full-color screen that measures 2.6 inches and a display that is 1.43 inches by 2.15 inches. You have twelve available channels. The LCD TFT display has a resolution of 160 by 240, so it's easy to check the map and read the touch screen, which is available in the 650t version.The Garmin Rino portable system accessories include an NMEA-0183 PC Interface with a USB 2.0 slot. There is also a slot for a microSD card. The quad helix antenna features an external hookup. This makes it simple to import or update mapping software and export waypoints. The combination of a 5 W FRS/GMRS radio gives this item powerful features to use in the field.The GPS receiver ensures you can pinpoint your exact location. Navigation is effortless with a worldwide basemap with shaded relief. This allows you to quickly navigate anywhere you like. A detailed array of maps accessories can be added for both marine and road. The microSD card slot allows you to plug into BlueChart preloaded cards or load maps for TOPO U.S. 24K. Satellite images are downloadable and can be integrated with your maps. With this system's capability of reporting your location, you can send it to other users. Whether for emergencies or communication, the FRS/GMRS radio makes it a snap to find family and friends. The two-way VHF radios combined with the transmitting power lets you send wireless text messages between units to other Garmin users. For public safety, this unit features a built-in NOAA weather radio that helps you avoid hazardous weather, allowing you to see National Weather Service information warnings and watches displayed county by county on the map screen. The Lithium-ion battery pack will last for a full fourteen hours.This waterproof Garmin Rino has a WxH display resolution and is transflective with a 65K color TFT. It also features a 1.7-gigabyte built-in memory, 200 routes, and a 10,000-point track log with 200 saved tracks. Full of features , It's a small computer that you hold in your hand !
The Garmin Rino 650 is packed with features. Setting it up maybe frustrating to most , but Garmin techs can walk you thru the setup of your Garmin , and they have always been very helpful when I have contacted them. You will also need to set up "Base Camp" on your computer , this allows you to work with data, receive updates etc. My hunting party uses the GPS features to know where we all are in the woods, this way if somebody needs help we can "go to" that person easily , as we are all getting up their in age. This is a complicated device, and it takes time to learn how to use it. If you don't want to learn in depth , then I wouldn't buy this unit , buy a Track back or something simple to use. The down fall of this unit is the radio does not have the transmission capability in hilly terrain , other than that , we have all come to learn and enjoy are Garmin Rino's . Great deal
I was a little hesitant about buying a GPS that was shipping from China but pulled the trigger anyway. Just arrived today and it works perfectly, the only thing to note is that it comes completely by itself, no paperwork, instructions, charger, nothing but the unit and some bubble wrap. Communications, locating others and GPS great for SAR
I work with a Search and Rescue team (we have Rinos for team equipment) in a wilderness or urban environment and used with Base Camp software to track team. A comfortable combination of walkie talkie and handheld gps. Decent GPS/Radio

No chip or maps
