Hero
Audie Murphy had several things going for him, bravery, tenacity, the ability to think on his feet and luck. The 1st 1/3 of the book is a bit slow, the rest of the book you wonder how the hell he made it through the war alive. There are several others in his story who were equally brave but were not so lucky. Innocence
This great by and about Audie Murphy was a really great read. Especially the no abridged comments and emotions come from a very young man just starting life. Audie Murphy was indeed a hero!
Audie Murphy's memoir is fantastic. It tells us how the war was fought, what our soldiers went through, what they did to stay together and fight. It also tells how they felt when their men were killed. A great read.

Outstanding book.
