Another Good Acorn Detective Series
I found series one of The Last Detective at a rummage sale for very little, and since it was an Acorn detective series, I thought it might be worth checking out. I really enjoyed it, so I recently I decided to look into finding additional episodes. Series 4 is the end of the series. These stories have a basic formula that they follow episode to episode so there are moments when that formulaic pattern might weaken to storyline. But on the positive side, there is a thread of ironic humor woven into the episodes, so they stay upbeat even as the crime investigation plays out. The main character "Dangerous Davies" is likeable, so you want to see how his investigation and personal situations work out in the end, and he has a wacky sidekick to keep the friendship, warmth & humor in the episodes turned on. I really liked this series, and am a little dissapointed there aren't more episodes, each series has 4 stories.

Would have been so much better with English subtitles for those of us with hearing loss.

The Last Detective - Season 4
All 5 episodes in this DVD set are quite enjoyable. Season 4 is the end of a great series of murder mysteries.
