    Quality Product But With Minor Caveat

    This was not the first time I've used this brand of self-etching primer. I bought a second can because I had such good results with the first when painting an aluminium sheet a few months ago. Same this time too with another aluminium surface. However the spray nozzle has either been redesigned or had some sort of issue because off centre I definitely had more 'blobbing'. I'm sure that is not the right term but what I mean is rather than the fine, even spray I had a noticeable number of larger droplets fall on the outer edges of the spray area. The item being painted was coated smoothly but the protective wooden background board it was propped up against had a number of these larger blobs each side of the object.. With more absorbent surfaces, like wood they'd be covered up by a second ...

    Great etch primer at a good price.

    Don't be worried about the price, it's good primer + it's 500ml not the higher priced 400ml option - I'll say that I gone through 4 cans in one day all the paint in the can was ran out fully & still the can had lots of pressure left in ready to go. It coats nice & dries to a dry Lt/medium grey when wet a vry dark near black colour - fully dry 3 hours in 9 degree temps. Though I wish I could get etch white primer in the same brand...... maybe a not far price that would be wonderful.

    Good Value. Does the job well.

    An effective propellant until its emptied. Excellent adhesion, and a quality flat mid grey finish, which covers very well. Especially good used on certain alloy parts etc.

    Acid etch alternative use.

    Normally used to prepare aluminium, it has been discovered to be an effective rust killer and underseal on steel. Upol is the best brand as multiple coats quickly build up a measurable thickness, looks good under a vehicle and doesn't need overcoating.

    that says it all

    i sprayed a piece of 8mm aluminium plate, left it for a couple of hours to dry in the sun , then tried to scratch it off with a thumbnail -- it didn,t scratch and it formed a smooth, satin type of finish which is ideal from my point of view -- the stern - frame on a large model tug ( 56")
