"The Vaughans have provided a valuable new edition of the play, one whose expanded contextualization, especially, will contribute to The Tempest 's lively and varied afterlife both within and beyond the classroom...Extensive, up-to-date critical introduction that incorporates recent and even forthcoming scholarship...Te introduction provides a formidable range of materials for teachers, performers, and directors. The section on "The afterlife" of the text is especially strong, with a comprehensive survey of both stage and film productions, Particularly valuable is this section's geographical breadth...Lavish illustrations further enhance the production history. The notes to the text itself are copious and replete with useful information, from staging possibilities to related literary usages. They also refer frequently to previous editions, providing a virtual map of the text's editorial history. The notes...are a model of thorough scholarship."- Shakespeare Quarterly, "The Vaughans have provided a valuable new edition of the play, one whose expanded contextualization, especially, will contribute to The Tempest 's lively and varied afterlife both within and beyond the classroom...Extensive, up-to-date critical introduction that incorporates recent and even forthcoming scholarship...Te introduction provides a formidable range of materials for teachers, performers, and directors. Synopsis
The Tempest has long dazzled readers and audiences with its intricate blend of magic, music, humour, intrigue and tenderness and its vibrant but ambiguous central characters. As Virginia and Alden Vaughan show, in their wide-ranging new edition of this established favourite, such antithetical extremes exemplify the play's endlessly arguable nature, its appeal to diverse eras and cultures. The Vaughans situate The Tempest at the centre of changing cultural attitudes towards colonialism, power politics and patriarchal hierarchies, and demonstrate how the play both shaped and reflected those changing attitudes. Informed by the concerns of a post-colonial international community, their edition emphasizes the play's world-wide cultural appropriation, and includes an extensive discussion of the play's after-life as well as an appendix of selected appropriations. The interdisciplinary editorial approach contributes a distinctively blended cultural and historical focus. - g***a (78)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzte 6 MonateBestätigter KaufI received a different version of the item that was advertised - but am extremely happy to report that Clarissa responded quickly and, once it was confirmed, issued a refund without delay. I've ordered from this vendor in the past: wonderful high quality books, & have always enjoyed quick replies with helpful information, great prices and fast shipping. Mistakes happen. Rock solid customer service is RARE. Thank you, Clarissa for handling the discrepancy so well. I'll def buy from you again!Flor y Canto; Tercera Edición Words and Music- 9781579921583, hardcover, Various (Nr. 388314820808)
- s***t (2244)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzte 6 MonateBestätigter Kauf🎈🎈🧨🧨🎈🎈 This seller is all about service and customer satisfaction!! I ordered a book, received a book (very fast shipping), but it was not the title I ordered (same subject matter). I sent a message explaining what happened, received very quick response that was apologetic and requesting some additional info about the book I received. Sent that info and again very quick response. The book I wanted was not in stock, a full refund was issued, and I was allowed to keep the book I received!!😀
- 5***5 (309)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzte 6 MonateBestätigter KaufUnfortunately I never received books, but it wasn’t seller’s fault. Tracking info proved items were honestly mailed out on time, so either postal service lost/mis-delivered package or it was stolen from my building mailroom. Whatever the case, seller gave me a full refund. I really appreciate them making it right & although I bought the books I wanted elsewhere, this seller is aboveboard & can be trusted & I’d buy from them again.
