Mr Oldfield does again
Having listened to Mike Oldfield's work since my teen years, for some reason I overlooked Tubular Bells II. Maybe it was the cover that put me off, as it's a long way from the classic cover of the original Tubular Bells and too garish for his music in my mind. However, having listened to it many times, I am very glad that I bought it. The cover aside (which I still don'the like), the music has some great moments and Sentinel, the first part rightly earns all it's appreciative comments from people. The whole album is, in essence, a reworking of the structure of Tubular Bells and even features a voice of dearly departed Alan Rickman announcing the instruments. The original Tubular Bells was an inspiration and this feels partly like a re-imagining of the music while introducing new ideas and playing more with the texture of the sound. If you love the original Tubular Bells and want more, you need this too. If like me you have the original and Tubular Bells III, this album is the bridge between the two, numerically, musically and sonically. modernized version of original
A modernized version of the original and as such has, in my opinion, lost it's purity and impact. The original sparkling magical quality is blurred or disappeared. Still pleasant, though somewhat bland, easy listening in it's own right.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht
