Another Awesome Book by Billy Showell
I love these newer publications 🌷 Billy has a style all her own. She is a fascinating writer, and invites you to not only start with the right tools, but she goes into great detail teaching her craft. She encourages us to use the real flower, to arrange the subject in artful ways, and she explains how and why she does this. From vases to flowers in tiny water vials, she teaches us to be creative and thoughtful about our planning of our painting. Next, she explains color and the mixes one can accomplish. Finally, (for me, anyway) she teaches what brushes accomplished her favorite effects in her style of realistic watercolor flowers. She teaches how to use light to create realism, and how to build color to create values, depth, or soft round shapes such as stems and leaves.
