overall great and I will watch it again !
good acting , good story , good special effects . This kid has visions of a gunslinger and violence everyone thinks he needs a psychologist and the visions are not real , his school principle recommends he goes to this treatment center , turns out they are from a different world where this dark tower exists , so the kid escapes but finds the portal to the other world . This is not like like some harry potter movie , this different world is violent filled with nasty creatures , its more like you would hope to survive . I read its based on the stepen king novel the dark tower . its a bit violent so use caution when viewing .

black tower-
movie is well acted by the gunslinger and the boy with psychic powers-both are great and on the side of good.the bad sorcerer is a lot too gross in his hurting and killing anyone at whim.-who doesn't please -him.ruins the movie but the redeeming factor is not good over evil-too much of a devils servant.the black actor and boy save the script. through reaching down to their souls with inborn gifts in the final battle-destroying the sorcerer. just because good won doesn't justify ugly violence-its the excuse directors use to lure the audience with dead minds.

No resemblance to the story as writen. I can't even give this movie 1 star - it doesn't deserve it!
Other than the names of the characters and the title, nothing even begins to resemble the original story. I can't believe that Steven King allowed this movie to be made based on his monumental writing (except purely for the money). I have read the entire series of books, this movie is an insult to readers and fans of the original story! It is nothing but an effort by Hollywood to cash in on a well known writer and perhaps his greatest effort. I was disgusted the entire time that I watched it. This DVD goes into the garbage can tonight. I'm glad that I didn't pay to actually go to the theater to see it. Of all of the Steven King movies that have been messed up by Hollywood, this is the worst botch job I've seen. To all fans of the great writer, don't watch this movie - read the books!

Quick retelling of the books
Not a bad movie, Matthew Mc does a great job with his take on the Man in Black and Idris Alba is great as the Gunslinger. Mashes together pretty much all the books and adds its own flair, a fine urban fantasy movie.

I love Stephen King's work I've read. The Gunslinger the drawing of the three but I missed reading The Dark Tower I purchased it just never got around to reading it this movie was it did not let me down I loved it one of the better movies I've seen I highly recommend it thank you Ewing Theodore 🦊

really poor movie
made a joke out of the dark tower series, nothing more than a narrative read to you childrens book. King should get a shovel and bury all these deep... Some guy reading to you like a documentary and the action scenes were terrible. not entertaining at all. wouldn't recommend wasting your money on this movie, read the books instead.....

CAN IDRIS DO ANYTHING WRONG!
This movie is a great double header for me. I am a big, big fan of Steven King, although his imagination scares the heck out of me! Wait - that's good for scii-fi. And Idris has worked his way into being one of my favorites to watch, starting with Obsession, thru A Mountain Between Us and of course his adventure into Steven King world.

good movie
does not follow the book but it was still good. Idris Elba is awesome as Roland and Matthew Mcconnahey is excellent as the dark man.

The Dark Tower
If it weren't for the title I would never have guesed that this was The Dark Tower by Stephen King. The characters are the same as the books but the story isn't even close. Not very entertaining.
