    Good viewing.

    Great to view something that is entertaining and not of the current Tv reality mess that supposed to entertain us. Good stories and great acting. A remaster of this classic stuff would be even better. Darren McGavin Burt Reynolds and some fine support actors make this series superb. Loved it.

    GREAT SERIES. Excellent acting, Believable Plots. Worth it!

    This is a GREAT product. If you like solid late 50s / early 60s entertainment like "Tales of Wells Fargo, Have Gun, Will Travel, etc." you will LOVE this little series. Darren McGavin is excellent, super fit, and the sets and acting is all first rate. Then there is Burt Reynolds, with no stash - very handsome. There are many famous movie and TV stars that appear in the series as guest stars. Most of the plots are interesting and quite believable. The riverboat is called "Enterprise", and there is almost a Star Trek nature to some of the plots... i.e. - come into town (come into orbit), find a problem and solve it. All in all, absolutely great entertainment... you will not be disappointed!

    nostalgia

    It was an excellent TV series & I'm really enjoying watching it again. I think you maybe had to be a teenager in 1960 to fully appreciate it though.

    Mississippi Fun !

    The second vintage b/w Western series we bought is quite engaging . .Darren McGavin is excellent as the Captain of the Enterprise riverboat and plays it to the hilt ! Burt Reynolds (1st acting job) is so bad it's painful to see. He left the show 1/2 way through but I suspect they replaced him - the two stars did not get along. Funny that they both were shown frequently without their shirts - apparently hairy chests were a sign of strong masculinity at that time! Rest of cast and guest stars are wonderful (and shaved). Good scripts and fine direction make up for the sometimes weak story lines, and historical inaccuracy. Good fun to watch Dick Wesson as "Carney " the engineer , and guest Arlene Dahl as " Lucy Belle" the EPITOME of a Southern Belle !

    Enjoyable

    Enjoyable tv show from the late 50's. Darrin McGavin is the Captain of the Riverboat. Burt Reynolds is the pilot, and left the show about midpoint and was replaced after a time with Noah Beery. This is a pre civil war western and getting cargo for the Riverboat Enterprise is a big plot point. Lots of actors from that time period show up. I liked it.
