    Record 05 1/2 plane was received as described on eBay. Another very fine purchase from this seller. Very fast shipping with the usual excellent three-layer packaging. Plane was wrapped in corrugated cardboard covering a well-taped bundle with three layers of heavy foam sheeting. Inside this, a double layer of cardboard tightly wrapped around the plane itself. Plane arrived in the USA in perfect condition. I look forward to future purchase opportunities with this seller.

    For several years I've been using a high grade japanese whetstone, which if you are a hand-sharpening Jedi is no doubt capable of giving great results. I fall more into the chewbacca category of dexterity so getting reliable and consistent results with different knives was frustratingly difficult for me. After weighing up for several months I decided to treat myself to the deluxe version of this knife sharpening kit. I've no regrets... it gives precisely the control over the angle that I longed to achieve by hand. After a quick look at some online instructional videos and a rummage in the drawer for something really blunt to sharpen i tried the lansky kit on a very blunt swiss army knife blade. 20ish minutes later I could shave the hair on my forearm (a particularly masculine ...

    Worth Every Penny

    Why didn't I buy this kit years ago? I always keep my kitchen knives as sharp as I can, but I can never keep my cutting angle consistent along the length of my blade. The various sharpening tools I have used are not in the same league is the Lansky Kit. No more hunting for the correct angle for me, the Lansky system makes sure I am always on point and using it is actually very therapeutic. I happily spent half an hour reprofiling one of my kitchen knives each day until I got all of them nice and sharp again and maintenance is quick and easy. I will never have a blunt knife again.

    Sharp

    This kit is ideal to make a good knife a brilliant knife. Take time and go through the stones your blade requires. Just sweep along your bevel once you know what angle that is?(just try honing stone in each angle hole to find the required one )and then work your way through the stones based on how damaged edge is ? Chase the burr on one side and repeat on opposing side till you loose the burr and move up stones in same manner and if you stick to this format you should end up with the angles dialled in and the best edge you’ve ever had. Ps when attaching rod to stone you may need to check the 90 degree angle on rod it may need slightly bending to make the stone and the rod totally flat to the surface your setting them up on.

    Sharp!

    The Lansky sharpening system gets all knives sharp really quickly, no skill needed. I have got nice Japanese water stones, but this kit gets as good an edge in no time at all.

    Easy use sharpener that works.

    I have tried various methods of sharpening kitchen knives including filleting knife, including stones, electric sharpeners and normal chefs type hand held sharpener. I guess these are ok if you have the correct technique. No skill needed here, follow simple instructions and extremely sharp knives done with ease.
