Collectors item at this point, so I paid more than I would have expected for it, but I am happy
This is something that should be remastered. I love the new live action film, but I would also love to see this original ova remastered or even recreated in 1080p - 4k. If they could preserve the original art style and just make it widescreen and higher resolution, that would be awesome.

For old school anime fans, and the curious who enjoyed the live-action Alita.
This two-chapter ova will certainly appeal to classic anime fans, and also those who have seen and enjoyed the 2019 live action version of the story. I would note, however, that the anime contains extreme violence (like the theatrical version) and also some (brief) sexual content, which makes it unsuitable viewing for children. Since this DVD is out of print, it fetches a good deal of money on the open market, so unless it is reissued, expect to pay top dollar. Big strength in small packages.
This was a fast paced anime from the era of classic anime like Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw Star. But it predates the both of them. The 90's and early 2000's were a great time in amine. Battle Angel does not disappoint. The only sad thing is that there are only 2 OVA's to watch. The word is that the Mangaka, or comic author and creator just wasn't into producing anime. He left to concentrate on the manga which I guess is good considering there's where the story comes from. The potential here was endless and I'm glad we have the two OVA's from ADV media and an English Dub. We're lucky to have that here in the US. In a post apocalyptic city, (near or on the present location of Kansas City, Missouri USA) factories work and scrap iron falls from the city in the sky and people replace lost ... As long as they retain their brain and spinal column they can still aparently identify as human, complete with all the heart, passion, and emotion that goes along with that. In a trash heap Dr. Ido finds an unconscious cyberised torso discovering it's life signs are detectable he rushes to save the life of our heroine Gally, (later English versions have her as Alita) Gally/Alita is an amnesiac who can not recall her life on the floating city above Scrap Iron but things point to her importance. What amazing powers has Dr. Ido, imbued upon her with her new powerful yet dimunitive cyberised body? Worth a watch, and belongs in your classic anime collection.

A Beloved Anime Classic
Battle Angel is an anime classic. I love the story and the characters, my only wish is that there were more "episodes." This DVD contains two short episodes - "Rusty Angel" and "Tears Sign" - that tell the story of Gally (Alita) and her start to become a hunter-warrior. This DVD aligns with the first two manga volumes, but then the manga continues onward after that. I have not read the manga yet as I came across the anime first, but I hope to read those next. I still highly recommend the anime despite its short runtime. Battle Angel is an anime classic. I love the story and the characters, my only wish is that there were more "episodes."
