Almost everything in the movie supported the title "Big Country"

Great Movie, Superb cast of Actors/Actresses
Excellent scenery & an entertaining plot. Jean Simmons in her first Western rides her own horse & displays excellent horsemanship. Burl Ives won an Academy Award for Best Support Actor. Classic
I saw this movie when it came to theaters. It was good back then and it's good now. (Rotten Tomatoes gives in 100%.) I categorize it as a classic western: rivalry, struggle, jealousy, love, and topical elements of that time period and location. I loved, in particular, that the ex-sea captain went off on the prairie on his own overnight, and everyone thought he was lost. He wasn't lost--he used his compass and the stars. Excellent horse opera

Go West Young Man
