First book still one of the best from one of our great historians
Have been a fan of Robert Caro ever since I began reading his massive, multi-volume LBJ biography, and had been looking for a nice HC 1st edition of his first bio for years to affix a signed bookplate. Well, now I have it and it was worth the wait-have not read the entire book (over 1000 pages) but sections I have read are as fascinating as anything I have read by Mr. Caro, and his subject-the man who pretty much singlehandedly reshaped NYC for better and for worse, Robert Moses-is most definitely worthy of such an epic. Being a researcher/historian myself who is gearing up for a bio of my own, I really appreciate all the effort and toil that a book such as this entails and you can tell while reading that, while Mr. Caro may not love his subject and all of this deeds, he thoroughly ...
