      Was good back when.

      I got this kit to see if it was like the ones they made in the 1970's. Wood breaks under it's own weight. Paper that came with it was grey and white. Paper was very bad. Ribs broke on sheet before I even opened it. Most of the 1/16th stringers break if you hold them in the middle and allow it's own weight to break it. This kit was made for children but I don't think a child would enjoy balsa breaking all the time.

      Better balsa in kits now

      I purchased three of these kits to compare with each other as to balsa density and die cutting. All the kits I purchased show great improvement in the grade of balsa being used now as compared to what Guillows used to push off in their kits years ago. Die cutting is greatly improved and the quality of the balsa sheets also. My only complaint is the strip wood which is unusually heavy and hard. This could use improvement .Overall I see a lot of improvement and would recommend this kit to anyone that just wants an easy kit to build and is not competition minded .I think this will make a great flyer and would make a great Father Son project.

      Fun and enjoyable

      For me these models are difficult for me to build to fly but I enjoy building for the purpose of building dioramas for them as plane wrecks at sea. Currently I am working on a lost in the Bermuda Triangle diorama themed display. A very enjoyable hobby.

      A good kit for the beginner

      A good kit. I haven’t built a balsa and tissue airplane in over 40 years. This kit uses the “old” die-cut parts. I will probably get one of the newer laser-cut kits next.
